Avenue of Sphinxes

Luxor, Egypt (plan)

Standing outside the first pylon of Luxor Temple, we see the processional way, lined with sphinxes, that connected Luxor to Karnak in the northeast. The sphinxes date to the Late Period (reign of Nectanebo I, 380-362 BC).
