East Face

Collapsed Pyramid, Medum

A giant mountain of debris surrounds the remaining three steps of the original seven-stepped core. Within most true pyramids of the Old Kingdom, there lies a step pyramid core, as here. In front of the east face, excavators have pushed aside the rubble to reveal the pyramid's east-west causeway and mortuary temple.
