Funerary Complex of DjoserSaqqara, Egypt Djoser's funerary complex consists of a number of buildings which were constructed within a large enclosed area surrounding his pyramid. The complex recreated, in stone, the temporary buildings associated with the king's heb-sed (renewal) festival. This magically allowed the king to celebrate the festival, and to receive continually renewed health and vigor, throughout eternity. The graceful curves on this building imitate the heb-sed tent with its curved roof. |
