Philae, Temple of Isis

Temple of Isis

Philae, Egypt (map)

The Greco-Roman temple of Isis dates from the time of Ptolemy II (285-246 BC). It contains a birth-house (mammisi) between the first and second pylons, followed by the temple proper behind the second pylon. The Kiosk of Trajan (previous page) is off to the right, out of the photo.
