Hatshepsut's mortuary chapel is located off the main axis of the temple, which aligns with the processional road from Karnak and terminates in the Barque Shrine. Note again that the top of this diagram is symbolic west; symbolic north is to the right.

Offerings were made, within the mortuary chapel, for the eternal afterlife of Hatshepsut and her father, Thutmosis I. Separate shrines to Hathor and Anubis are located on the second level. The sun god, Re, was worshiped in the open air, facing east to the rising sun. Re's altar occupies an open courtyard on the north side of the upper level.
