Healing Shrine

Kom Ombo, Egypt

The small recessed shrine is surrounded by protective deities and equipped with ears to hear the petitioners' prayers. The eyes (just above the ears) are symbolic of Horus and his power to heal eye disease. Sobek, on the other hand, was associated with the Nile and specialized in healing infertility.
