Small Golden Roof Hall
Ta'er Si, Xining
Overlooking the north courtyard at photo upper left is the Small Golden Roof Hall (1692), also called the Guardian Deities Hall. Dedicated to animal spirits, its upper story is occupied by stuffed ungulates (sheep, deer, goats, etc.) wrapped in prayer scarves.
The building is a mixture of Tibetan (walls) and Chinese (roof) architecture.
