The emperors naturally wanted to be entertained with music and dance in the afterlife. Relief panels displayed here and on the next few pages depict musicians and dancers of the Tang court. The examples are taken from a set of about two dozen relief panels that display two "orchestras," one of men and one of women. The instruments in both sets of panels are the same.
