Manjusri HallFoguang Si The hall, Wenshu Dian, was built in 1137 (Jin Dynasty); Wenshu is the Chinese name for Manjusri. It is a seven-bay hall, like East Hall (previous pages); unlike East Hall, though, it has only three doors. In spite of 300 years' difference in age, the facades of these two halls are rendered in very much the same style. I wonder if the Jin building deliberately imitated the Tang hall, or if perhaps this is an artifact of the latest restoration. |
