These fantastical and bizarre tomb guardians are chimeras – combinations of parts of other animals, and even plants. The two guardians with flower ears and human faces (right and left of the central, antlered figure) are probably different representations of the same creature, perhaps a vegetation god who represents the promise of regeneration from the earth.
