Wine Warmers

The city museum in Luoyang displays many artifacts from its long history as an early capital of China. The three ceramic vessels seen here are wine warmers, jia. The difference between jia and jue is that jue have long extended spouts. Test tubes below the vessels in this display hold samples of their contents for analysis.
