Statue of Wen Chang

The modern image shows Wen Chang with traditional hat and ruyi sceptre. The wish-fulfilling sceptre grants success to the god's devotees. As God of Literature, Wen Chang is the patron of the imperial examination system, and of scholarship in general. His home is in the constellation Ursa Major (the Big Dipper).
