Guanyin TriadStone Bell Mountain, Yunnan The savior goddess holds a willow branch in her right hand and a bowl in her left. She is flanked by two acolytes, also holding vases/bowls. Her open chest cavity might once have held an image or a dedication. She sits upon a throne above a lotus base, her legs arranged in "western" posture, in front of a double mandorla (almond-shaped halo), beneath a canopy. The seated Amida Buddha decorates her crown. Her face has evidently been recarved, although not insensitively, at some point. |
