Bai Architecture
Zhoucheng
Zhoucheng, the largest of the villages located around the shore of Er Hai, is noted for its tie-dye industry. The building in this photo was chosen to illustrate Bai architecture; the building is modern, but
retains many traditional elements such as swooping gables, elaborately carved wood entranceways, and a preference for the color white. The word "Bai" actually means "white," and the Bai people enjoy this color on their clothing as well as their buildings.
