Sun-and-Moon Guanyin

Cave #136, 1142-1146 AD
Beishan Grottoes, Dazu

The left photo shows two side-by-side images of Guanyin. The standing figure at photo left holds a rosary in her (recarved) right hand, and displays a standing Buddha in her crown rather than the more usual seated Buddha. The seated esoteric (multi-armed) figure, at photo right, holds a sun and moon in her two upper hands. Her lower left hand holds a beribboned axe, and her middle left hand holds a bowl.

The right photo is a closeup, of a standing disciple or donor.
