The face of the stupa is worked in shallow relief with a Thousand-Buddha scheme that symbolizes the Buddha's omnipresence. The word vajrasana, meaning "diamond seat," refers to the Buddha's enlightenment; its five towers symbolize the five Dhyani Buddhas.
