Imperial Garden, Forbidden City, Beijing (map)
The Imperial Garden occupies the northernmost, private, area of the Forbidden City, on axis behind the inner court. The twin Spring and Autumn Pavilions, seen here, enshrined the portraits of former emperors. Their construction features a marble balustrade, lattice windows, redented floor plan, circular roof, and an elaborate domed ceiling (photo).
Because these are twin buildings, their identification here, and elsewhere on the net, should not be taken for granted.
